Let’s be real for a minute. Starting a new exercise routine, any new exercise routine, can be intimidating. You are going to be doing things that you haven’t done in a while (or in some cases things you have never done before.) Though putting yourself out there is hard, I can tell you from personal experience that it is worth it!! Maybe not the first day, but over the first couple of weeks you will notice a difference in how you feel and you will start to notice changes in yourself.
There will be the standard measurable changes that most people focus on, the loss of weight, building of muscle and improved performance and endurance, however there is much more that that. Exercise and CrossFit in particular is also about strengthening your mind and spirit. Doing something that you have never been able to accomplish before, pushing through a hard workout, finding a place where you can release the days struggles and clear your head, help your mental health as much as the workouts themselves help your physical health.
There was a good article in the Journal on starting a CrossFit program and a call to action to try one days worth (24) classes and see how these make a difference in your everyday life. This is actually the second article in a 6 part series written by Kai Rainey (some of you may already know her journey a bit).
