I got this one the other day so I figured I’d answer it for everyone else who is curious:
“I am 39 and I’ve never worked out. Will I be able to get a good physique and muscle mass even if I start at this age?”
The simple answer is yes. It really doesn’t matter what age you are. But what most people think they have to do when they’re getting older is do everything to get fit in 1 day or 1 week, or even 1 month. That’s a recipe for disaster! It leads to injuries, and a quick burn out. If you haven’t worked out in 29+ years and you’re not happy with your physique the change you want won’t happen overnight.
It takes building good habits towards your health/fitness goals. That’s where most people drop off. Bad habits take months or years to develop. Unfortunately so does breaking those bad habits or creating good ones. So patience and consistency pay off bigger than anything. It won’t take you as long to break those bad habits as it did to develop them, but don’t start thinking you’ll look like an elite athlete from a week of training!
If you’re over 39 you’ll probably need help getting towards your goals, because likely you work a time absorbing job, maybe you’ve got a family, a mortgage, or something else that will definitely present a challenge to your goals. So, an even bigger piece to the solution is to GET HELP! Get a good coach.
If you’re over 39 and you’ve never worked out in your life it doesn’t mean you’re doomed to look and feel a way you don’t want to forever. It just means you’ve got to think intelligently about your plan and goals and be patient with the process!
We can help with that.
