It happens to everyone. You set a goal, start changing your life to make strides towards that goal – you make some major progress – then BAM! It hits you hard! It could be an illness that takes you out, an injury, or even a major change to your work or home schedule that throws you off your game.
Does this mean you’ve lost all that progress?
However, people are hard on themselves. We let our mistakes define us, and allowing ourselves to do that is a big hit to our own motivation and future progress.
Just because you’ve taken 2 steps back doesn’t mean you can’t quickly make 3-4 steps foward towards your goals in the long run.
You don’t usually fix everything and reach 100% of your health/fitness goals in 2-4 weeks. These goals take months if not years to reach. And, you should, nay you must, expect pitfalls and set backs. But it’s your continued, relentless pursuit of these goals over the long-term that yields major improvements to everything you seek.
If you get completely deterred every time a small obstacle or setback gets in your way you will never reach that goal. But if you go into your challenge knowing that there will not only be ups and but downs as well, they’re a lot easier to handle.

P.S. that member did come in that Monday and crushed that 1st week back! She's probably already 2 steps forward and about to hit that 3rd step soon :)
